Meet Hiccup!
If you’ve ever encountered a wiggly blur of tan and white floof zooming through the neighborhood, you have likely already met Hiccup—Bellevue-Hale’s most enthusiastic and affectionate resident! A 2 ½ year-old Terrier-Dachshund mix (we think), Hiccup has charmed her way into the hearts of friends and neighbors, earning herself the esteemed (and unanimously elected) title of Mayor Wigglebottoms.
Hiccup came into her forever home in October 2022 via A Friend of Jack Rescue. From that moment, life has never been the same. She’s an energetic, loving, and athletic pup who approaches the world with boundless curiosity and joy. Smart and full of surprises, Hiccup can sit, stay, jump up, shake, roll over, catch, and spin on command. But be warned: she also possesses impressive hops. Whoever said, “White dogs can’t jump” had never met Hiccup! Fences and furniture are no match for preventing Hiccup from getting where she wants to be.
You will often find Hiccup out and about with her humans. You might see her zooming laps in her yard on 13 th and Cherry or scampering around Lindsley Park, where she enjoys intimidating unruly squirrels, taking inventory of the copious smells on the ground, and making friends with humans and dogs alike. If you stop at a cafe on Colfax or in 9CO, keep an eye out—Hiccup is known to visit local coffee shops for a well-earned pup cup.
When she’s not busy keeping tabs on the ongoings of the four- and two-legged citizens of Bellevue-Hale, Hiccup is usually out hiking in the Front Range or going for a swim at Cherry Creek State Park.
While Hiccup adores people and other dogs, she can be a little shy around bigger pups. Give her a moment, and she’ll warm up quickly—especially if you offer her some scratches under the chin or a gentle rub on the back of her neck. And if you really want to win her over, have her do a trick to earn her favorite treats, blueberries!
Of the many things Hiccup loves to do, her absolute favorite activity is giving kisses! Faces – and specifically, noses – are her preferred licking spots. If you need your sinuses cleared out, don’t waste your deductible on an ENT visit. Just come find Hiccup! Seriously, she might lick all the way to your brain.
So when you see this little 18 lb bundle of unfettered puppy energy bounding around the neighborhood, be sure to say, “Hi!” She’d love to show you a trick, score some scratches, and, of course, give you one of her signature brain kisses!
